Intellectual Property, Innovation and Trade Policy

Course Description

This course focuses on the role and significance of intellectual property rights in the global trading system. Specific attention will be paid to understanding the role of innovation in development, particularly for small economies.

Intellectual property rights are key elements of existing and proposed regional and bilateral trade agreements in which CARICOM states are involved.

Thus, regional trade practitioners should understand how intellectual property rights located within International trade agreements can improve trade competitiveness.
