Alicia Nicholls is the Junior Research Fellow with the SRC. She is also a member of the teaching faculty of the SRC’s flagship Masters in International Trade Policy (MITP). Alicia first joined the SRC as a Research Consultant in 2010-2011 after graduating the MITP programme (Cohort 6) with distinction in 2010.  In April 2019, Alicia rejoined the SRC team full-time initially as a Trade Research Assistant. She recently completed the Research Supervision course and the Post-Graduate Diploma in University Teaching and Learning (PGCUTL).

Alicia’s disciplinary focus is international political economy (IPE). Her research work focuses on foreign investment law/policy, global financial regulation, financing for sustainable development and international business. She has been a General Member of the Canadian-based Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) since 2015. She is also a member of the Michigan-based Academy for International Business (AIB) since 2016, the International Studies Association (ISA) and the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA). She is also a Fellow with the Caribbean Policy Consortium (CPC).

Alicia presents and writes on a wide gamut of trade, investment and development issues for regional and international publications and industry magazines, including the Barbados Business Authority, IFC Review, Caribbean Export Outlook, and the Caribbean Studies Association’s monthly newsletter. She also enjoys volunteering and is a proud member of the Lions Club of Bridgetown.

Alicia is a former Government of Barbados Exhibition Winner (2005). A language enthusiast, she speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese and also has knowledge of German and Italian. In her limited spare time, she enjoys reading, travelling, the gym and spending time with her loved ones.
