Dr. Trisha Tannis

Chairman, Barbados Private Sector Association

Trisha S.M Tannis, Managing Director of the Unicomer (Barbados) Group is a performance driven thought leader in financial management who delivers sustainable results to support the strategic objectives of corporate stakeholders in a socially responsible framework. She promotes a culture of continuous improvement to maintain adaptable and responsive organizations ready for changing market conditions and business demands. She is an experienced finance professional with over 20 years of experience in financial management and corporate governance, and was the first female appointed to that office in the Unicomer Caribbean and Latin America Group. Professionally qualified as a Chartered Professional Accountant of Canada, Trisha is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados and the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with Honours at the University of the West Indies.

She recently served as President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce for 2019/2021 having previously served as Senior Vice President and Chair of the retail sub-committee of that entity.

During her tenure as President, she provided dedicated and exemplary leadership, particularly, during the unprecedented challenges experienced by the business sector as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. Tannis also played a lead role in the development of a new three-year strategic mandate for the Barbados Chamber and through her leadership ensured that the Chamber was a more visible and engaged voice of the business community.

She was recently appointed as the first female Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association and serves as a Director on the boards of various privately held entities. Trisha also served on the Legislation and Public Sector Committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados and currently chairs the Regional Risk Management Steering Committee for Unicomer Caribbean.

Trisha is a devout Christian, is happy married to Patrick and is a proud mom to Michael and Abi.
