The SRC congratulates Rebeca Grynspan on appointment as new UNCTAD SG

The SRC extends congratulations to Rebeca Grynspan of Costa Rica on her appointment as the next Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the first woman to be appointed to this position. Ms. Grynspan is an accomplished economist and former vice president of Costa Rica (1994-1998) and takes over from the equally distinguished, Isabelle Durant who has been acting SG since February 2021. Ms. Grynspan, who was  nominated to the post by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, was approved on June 11 by the UN General Assembly. The SRC wishes Ms. Grynspan every success during her tenure and looks forward to building on the strong relationship between our two institutions.
