Paper Title: Exploring Barbados’ 2007-2012 Industrial Policy Framework’s Support of Export Diversification in Goods and Services, and Improvements which can be made to the New Policy

This research paper explores the extent to which Barbados’ 2007-2012 industrial policy supported export diversification and the possibilities as it relates to a revitalized industrial policy for furthering efforts of exports and economic diversification. Such a change will pave the way for increased economic growth and sustainable development within Barbados.
Chapter 1 gives context to the research paper and outlines the background, research question, rationale, objectives, and methodology. Chapter 2 conducts a literature review while Chapter 3 outlines the theoretical perspective and a discussion. Chapter 4 analyzes Barbados’ FDI an discusses its trade agreements. Chapter 5 evaluates the 2007-2012 industrial policy framework of Barbados utilizing a SWOT analysis. Chapter 6 contains the conclusion and outlines recommendations for high-level decision makers in Barbados by drawing examples from relevant countries as it relates to improving and strengthening the current industrial policy and utilizing industrial policy as a tool for bolstering export diversification.
