Ambassador Matthew Wilson
Ambassador of Barbados to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva
Matthew Wilson is a Barbadian with 25 years of experience in Trade and Development. He is currently the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Barbados to the United Nations, WTO and other International Organizations in Geneva. Prior to this he was Chief of Special Projects at the International Trade Centre, Chief of Staff at the International Trade Centre, Senior Adviser to the WTO Director General, Deputy Aid for Trade Coordinator at the WTO, and a Trade and Human Rights negotiator for the Government of Barbados.
He is currently Chair of the WTO MSME Group and was the first ‘Friend of the Chair’ for the special and differential treatment negotiations of the Trade Facilitation Agreement. He has degrees in Psychology, International Relations, Development Studies and an MBA-Essentials and is a Geneva Gender Champion. He is on the Board of the Geneva Gender Champions, the Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs (TESS) and the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law, at the University of the West Indies.
