Trade Negotiations, Cooperation and Leadership
The SRC would like to congratulate all the participants who successfully completed the two-week course “Trade Negotiations, Co-operation and Leadership”, held online from May 23 – June 3, 2022. The course was organized by the SRC and the OECS Commission and was facilitated by Mr. Tsotetsi Makong.
The Trade Negotiations, Cooperation and Leadership two-week course is intended to increase knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of negotiation, cooperation and international trade leadership. It will focus particularly on negotiations taking place at the international level among sovereign states, with a focus on trade negotiating theatres involving CARICOM Member States, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Economic Partnership Agreement. Through theoretical and practical sessions, the course will bring trade negotiations alive, under the tutelage of experienced trade experts and negotiators from the global South.
What will I Learn?
On successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Discuss the regulatory framework of international trade negotiations.
- Evaluate trade negotiations techniques and processes.
- Discuss international trade negotiations and cooperation issues with a focus on small island developing states (SIDS) and least developed countries (LDCs).
- Assess the linkages between international trade negotiations and development.
- Conduct advanced analyses of international trade negotiations on a bilateral, regional and multilateral level.
- Apply acquired skills to trade law and government organisations dealing with trade issues
